Simon Says Stamp October Release!

NEW! NEW! NEW!  Welcome to my blog post today introducing a new stamp from the Simon Says Stamp Cozy Hugs Release.

When this stamp came in the mail… I was stunned with the size but loved the bold print of it and challenged with what I would do!

So I put it in the MISTI and started inking with Lawn Fawn Ink Cubes, Lobster and Artichoke.  I tore some scrap paper squares to kinda mask off but finally just ended up wiping off if I got ink where I didn’t want it.

I LOVE it! ❤

Fortunately I thought to snap a phone picture before I chopped it in half! (sorry it’s blurry, ugh, I only took one)

It’s just everything traditional Christmas to me! lol

I used a wide ruler to try to decide WHERE to cut it in half…finally realized there was no rhyme nor reason to where!

I ended up with two Mini Slimline size cards.

This one I just stamped a sentiment right over the design. Happy Christmas from the SSS Inside Christmas Greetings stamp set.

The second I tried gold heat embossing directly on the design but it didn’t show up as well as I thought it would.

I heat embossed a piece of vellum and positioned it directly over the direct to card embossed sentiment.

Now I wonder if I shouldn’t have added some gems or something but you know me… I err on the side of clean and simple!

Are you looking forward to Christmas creating or have you already started?  This release has some wonderful things in it!

Tired to catch the gold embossing in the picture a little better.

I had fun making these!

I hope you’ll check out the new release.  Thank you for clicking from my blog…if you click from somewhere else but want me to get credit, be sure to come back to my blog and click again.  I appreciate it so much and thank you from the bottom of my cardmaking loving heart! ❤

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Merry Christmas in July, Holly Wreath Card and Tutorial

Salutations of the season to all!  And just like that, it’s the end of July!  Let’s get a head start on Christmas cards!

My card today is from the NEW Birch Press Design Festive Floral release!

I’m using the NEW Holly Wreath Plate die set. Keep reading for a tutorial how I made the wreath without layering!  First the finished card pictures…

Close up showing the NEW Handwritten Merry Christmas and Outline die set… so beautiful! I love how he included the dot of the ‘i’ onto the ‘t’!  No gluing tiny dots this time!  (well except on the wreath hohoho)

A shot from the side…

Sentiment from Birch Press Design Kind Hearts clear stamp set. (gorgeous sentiments in this one)

Here’s how I made this card in pictures…hope it works!  Let me know what you think!  Was it worth it?

I started by die cutting Layer C in Hammermill 100# Color Copy Cover cardstock.  Keep both pieces.

Now, using Layer A (the plate with all the detail), lay the plain wreath you die cut with Layer C into layer A die, right side into the die.

Next we are going to emboss the plain wreath die cut by running it through the die cut machine. From the bottom up you’ll need the standard platform, clear cutting plate, tan (squishy) mat, die cut in the die with cutting blades facing into the mat and on top a clear cutting plate.

(If you have the older multi purpose platform, use it like you would a regular embossing folder. Fold the top layer back.)

Look how cool this is… it’s embossed!

Now we’re going to ink the wreath with Distress ink.  In my picture I grabbed regular Distress ink but when I was making my card, I used Distress Oxide Rustic Wilderness.  ugh.  My regular are out in plain view and my oxide are in a drawer now. Change is hard! lol  I used my oxide brush with regular ink.  There go my eyes rolling at myself again!

Back to layer C – die cut scraps of red cardstock for the berries.

Here you see the back of the inked, embossed wreath…I placed pieces of thin mounting tape over the berry holes.  Link below… I love this mounting tape!

Then turn the wreath over and using a pickup tool of your choice add the berries to the holes and they will stick in place!  Easy!

Ink scraps of white cardstock with Rustic Wilderness Distress ink, cut into pieces to lay over the holly leaves on layer A and run it through the machine.

Turn wreath back over and line it up to layer A to match up your Holly. Then turn it right side up and glue on the Holly.

Remember it’s opposite…

No earthly idea why in this picture the green is a funky color! lol

I wanted to show that the wreath is super fun just inking the solid wreath without embossing too.  At the last minute I thought to splatter it with some white spray ink.  I didn’t go back and splatter my card though.

So I’m showing three variations using these dies differently than they were intended!  Let’s make Christmas cardmaking fun! lol

Holler if you have any questions.  I have some old videos showing how to do embossing with dies too.

Memory Box NEW Paisley Bloom Leaf Arch Card…

Hello friends!  So thankful for all my cardmaker friends everywhere! You make me smile a lot!

Simple card today….I die cut this new Paisley Bloom Leaf Arch die from watercolor paper and colored with the new Zig Clean Color Brush markers.  They are so pretty!

I used three arches for this card, three of the medium size flower and three of the small size flower.

I used watercolor paper for the A2 size panel that I inked with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and a mini ink blending tool. I stamped a couple sentiments around with the same ink from the NEW Memory Box Friends and Family stamp set. The center sentiment is stamped with Ranger Black Archival ink.

I used liquid glue to attach the three arches together and just on the circle to glue to the panel.  Then the flowers are glued just in the center to the wreath so I could ‘fluff’ the petals and leaves.

I added Memory Box small clear Fairy Drops, some Mayarts twine and glued the panel to a kraft color cardbase.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Holler if you have any questions!

ttul!

Memory Box Magnolia Wreath and Magnolia Double Arch

Hi everyone! I used two NEW dies on my card today, the Magnolia Wreath and the Magnolia Double Arch dies.

It’s super simple but that color combo that I love so much! I hope you don’t get tired of seeing it! lol

I stamped the Hello from the new poppystamps Friendship and Kindness clear stamp set. Lots of really nice sentiments and messages for the inside too! I will stamp one of them on the inside. I’m really bad about not finishing the inside until I’m ready to send. ugh

Taylored Expressions cardstock… I die cut each die one time but cut the flowers from the Wreath set multiple times. The A2 cardbase is Toffee, the green is Granny Smith and the blue is Confetti Cake.

I used some black nuvo drops for the flower centers. I like it and hope you do too!

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great week making cards…looks like a busy week here. I need to make a boy birthday card…a grandson turning six today! They grow up so fast! 😀 ttul!

Memory Box Small Cosmos and Jovial Wreath CAS Card…

Hi everyone!  A clean and simple card to share with you today with a wish for you to enjoy your day!

I almost got away with a completely die cut card. There is something about stamping a sentiment simply in black though! ❤

I die cut three of the Jovial Wreath in TE Granny Smith cardstock and glued them together with Tombow Mono Multi glue.  I die cut two of the Small Cosmos, popped the pieces out of the top one but left them in the bottom one and added just a touch of coloring!  I only glued them together around the very center and then glued the flower to the wreath and the wreath to the die cut in TE Confetti Cake and sentiment stamped panel using one of the sentiments from the Birthday Blowout stamp set.

I used mounting tape to adhere the panel to the A2 TE Toffee cardbase.  I make my cardbases top folding because it’s easier to take pictures of them. Book fold cards are so nice and traditional though.  I miss that sometimes!  😀

I imagine a lot of you already have flowers in your yards.  Our temps are still too low in Iowa but it won’t be long!  In the meantime, I’ll enjoy my day and my paper flowers!

I don’t have any of the new Memory Box/poppystamps release but Cindy @starlitstudio.net has all the NEW stuff and is shipping like normal!  YAY!  Simon Says Stamp has the new also but shipping is slower right now. Links below…

Wreath Building, You’ve Been On My Mind Card…

Hi everyone! Today is my last post as a ‘fetti friend for Reverse Confetti.  It’s been fun creating with their January release for two months! I hope you’ve enjoyed it. ❤

I decided to use the new Butterfly Wreath stamp and dies set but just the three smaller images to make a wreath using the wreath builder technique and the MISTI.

I love the simplicity of it and that the message is what you see first. It’s not always possible to be with people in person but if you’re like me, we are thinking of them!

I stamped in green ink but just die cut the three little floral images and butterfly. I colored in the flowers and butterfly with Copic Sketch Markers.

For the card base, I ran the new Stitched Scallops cover plate die through the Big Shot with the embossing set up instead of die cutting it.  I really like the soft feel of this look for this card and message.

My other cards I made with these sets and dies are HERE and HERE.

So glad to have you visit today!  Thank you so much for stopping by! ❤
