poppystamps Basic Junk Journal Set…

Hi everyone!  I know!  I know!  You came expecting Easter!  I’ve been thinking about this die set and what I would make with it….then I walked by this little stack of Santas that I’d printed before Christmas and didn’t use and thought one would be adorable with the Journal set!

So I die cut the journal in watercolor paper and did some ink smooshing with Distress Ink Gathered Twigs ink refill and water. I didn’t wait for it to dry on it’s own.  I dried it with the heat tool.

Here’s a video of it… it might be low resolution at first until it completely downloads…even though it’s only 27 seconds!  See it HERE on Instagram…

I had some scraps/strips that I kept of plaid from the Memory Box Jolly Christmas 6×6 pad and I love how they worked out on the front and on the inside!

You can tell what the size of this folder is because there’s a gift card inside.

You could stamp or write in permanent ink on the mirror gold little labels.

the back….

And now I’m thinking what a cute tag this would make on an Easter basket!  There’s several dies in the set I didn’t even use!

Spellbinders February Release Four Petal Floral 3D Embossing Folder Card…

Hi everyone!  Do you remember the poinsettia embossing folder card I made HERE?  I tried it again with the NEW Spellbinders Four Petal Floral 3D Embossing Folder.

I did this one a little different.  I ran it through the Big Shot with the embossing folder setup after I inked it up with Antique Linen Distress Ink pad. (regular dye ink)  You ink it on the wrong side, the side that debosses, the design is recessed into the cardstock but you don’t want to go deep this time. Use a thinner sandwich.  I inked it up so it’d be easier to see where to brush on the ink.  The first time I did it I got too much green on the pink.

I found that I could kinda ‘wash’ the ink off with a damp stiff-ish paint brush, after I deep embossed it and brushed back in the right color.  I missed a few spots though! hehe

Scroll down (last picture) and you’ll see how it looks after ink blending and before the last embossing like the folder is meant to be embossed.

After inking with yellow, pink, green oxide inks and deep embossing, you ink blend again over the top of all of it with Vintage photo distress oxide ink.

It’s a super fun, vintage-y, distressed look that the camera makes brighter and deeper color than it really is IRL.

I hot foiled the sentiment on a die cut panel using the Spellbinders Something Special Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and gold hot foil.

I spattered on some gold ink for sparkle and glued on some gold pearls to glam it up… oh and some thin gold cord before I glued it to an A7 size cardbase.

Here’s the not so pretty ink blended panel!  :O  I know… at this point you think, I should quit!  This is NOT working! lol

Never fear….keep going! lol

As to my Hallmark commentary last time… this one is Hallmark size anyway! lol

Merry Christmas in July, Holly Wreath Card and Tutorial

Salutations of the season to all!  And just like that, it’s the end of July!  Let’s get a head start on Christmas cards!

My card today is from the NEW Birch Press Design Festive Floral release!

I’m using the NEW Holly Wreath Plate die set. Keep reading for a tutorial how I made the wreath without layering!  First the finished card pictures…

Close up showing the NEW Handwritten Merry Christmas and Outline die set… so beautiful! I love how he included the dot of the ‘i’ onto the ‘t’!  No gluing tiny dots this time!  (well except on the wreath hohoho)

A shot from the side…

Sentiment from Birch Press Design Kind Hearts clear stamp set. (gorgeous sentiments in this one)

Here’s how I made this card in pictures…hope it works!  Let me know what you think!  Was it worth it?

I started by die cutting Layer C in Hammermill 100# Color Copy Cover cardstock.  Keep both pieces.

Now, using Layer A (the plate with all the detail), lay the plain wreath you die cut with Layer C into layer A die, right side into the die.

Next we are going to emboss the plain wreath die cut by running it through the die cut machine. From the bottom up you’ll need the standard platform, clear cutting plate, tan (squishy) mat, die cut in the die with cutting blades facing into the mat and on top a clear cutting plate.

(If you have the older multi purpose platform, use it like you would a regular embossing folder. Fold the top layer back.)

Look how cool this is… it’s embossed!

Now we’re going to ink the wreath with Distress ink.  In my picture I grabbed regular Distress ink but when I was making my card, I used Distress Oxide Rustic Wilderness.  ugh.  My regular are out in plain view and my oxide are in a drawer now. Change is hard! lol  I used my oxide brush with regular ink.  There go my eyes rolling at myself again!

Back to layer C – die cut scraps of red cardstock for the berries.

Here you see the back of the inked, embossed wreath…I placed pieces of thin mounting tape over the berry holes.  Link below… I love this mounting tape!

Then turn the wreath over and using a pickup tool of your choice add the berries to the holes and they will stick in place!  Easy!

Ink scraps of white cardstock with Rustic Wilderness Distress ink, cut into pieces to lay over the holly leaves on layer A and run it through the machine.

Turn wreath back over and line it up to layer A to match up your Holly. Then turn it right side up and glue on the Holly.

Remember it’s opposite…

No earthly idea why in this picture the green is a funky color! lol

I wanted to show that the wreath is super fun just inking the solid wreath without embossing too.  At the last minute I thought to splatter it with some white spray ink.  I didn’t go back and splatter my card though.

So I’m showing three variations using these dies differently than they were intended!  Let’s make Christmas cardmaking fun! lol

Holler if you have any questions.  I have some old videos showing how to do embossing with dies too.

Memory Box Floral Collage and Birch Press Design Crystal Lingo Cards…

Hello everyone!  Here’s to flowers blooming everywhere!

I combined some dies for this card…nothing stamped on this one!  I LOVE this Jumbled Line Collage die…new from Memory Box.

The flowers are from the release before this last one.  I used the Layered Daisies, Layered Fresh Flowers and Thank You Posh Script dies.

Five of the new Memory Box Fairy Jewels and two of the Memory Box 6×6 cardstock pads.  I love that there are three shades for each of the 4 colors in the pads.  I used Berry Red and Lush Green.

The Jumbled Line Collage lends itself to any card size.  I made this one in the Mini Slim Size, 3 ½ by 6 inches.

Oh the leaves and berry branches are from the poppystamps Woven Basket Pop Up Easel Set.

My next card is Bright too! lol

Here’s a simple slim line card… I ink blended five colors of Distress Oxide onto a piece of cardstock using Taylored Expressions Ink blender brushes.  I let it dry overnight and heat embossed with white powder the slim line size stamp from Birch Press Design, Crystal Lingo.

The Happy and Birthday To You stamps are both from the same set and there are dies to cut out the big words.

I colored HAPPY with Copic Sketch Markers.

I used the Memory Box Slim Basic Rectangle Layers dies to cut the stamped panel and the black layer.

It kinda reminds me of a box of crayons! lol

Some beautiful days this week here in Iowa.  We live in a big old house with two Central air units… the one for the 2nd and 3rd floor pooped out on us Tuesday. ugh ugh ugh.  I like being cool!  So, here’s hoping we can get a new unit in fast!  It could be challenging, especially sleeping.

I’ll get off and figure out what I need to do next without getting hot! lol

Some of the supplies I used to make these cards… and while I have you here… look at the June Clearance SALE at Scrapbook.com!  I found some things I needed for birthdays!  yay!  Tons of good stuff!

poppystamps Happy Easter and Memory Box Blossom 3D Embossing Folder Cards…

Made you smile!  I know, I know!  Thank you Jan for reminding me to add the puffy tail!  Keep scrolling for the pretty floral embossing folder card.

Grab a grass die cut it in green….add washi tape to white cardstock and die cut eggs…stamp some words…heat emboss some other words…layer it all up and you’ve got a cute card!  I’ll link what I used below.

I love using washi tape… it just adds a little bit of homespun or something!  The cute sentiments add the whimsy!

Hippity hoppity to the next card…

Here I used the NEW 3D embossing folder. I lightly spritzed the panel of Memory Box Watercolor paper with water on both sides before I ran it through my Big Shot.  Using blending brushes I blended ink on the panel with Distress Oxide inks.  I used one of the finger daubers to do the green.  I used my water droplet, clap on technique to get the white spots.  Spray water into your hand, then rub them together and clap over the panel.  I got a little green on the edges of the flowers so I went around the flower edges with a white gel pen. Oh and a few white gel pen dots on the flower centers.

The detail on this type folder is amazing!  My pictures do not do it justice!

I die cut the NEW Glade Butterfly and NEW Just a Note Posh Script dies from white cardstock and vellum.

I layered the panel onto black cardstock and then to a light yellow A2 size cardbase.

I’m really happy with how it turned out… it almost went in the trash! lol

Thank you for stopping by today!  Have a fun week creating!  I might be outside some!  After a dreary week last week, it looks like we’re in for some sunshine!  YAY!

Simon Says Stamp Release….Send Happiness…3 Cards!

Happy Monday to you!  Simon Says Stamp has a new release and they sent me this flower die to play with…I was already doing napkin die cutting so I went ahead and did this new Etched Flower die the same way!  Scroll down to THIS post for a link to the technique/how to video.

I stamped the background for the flower die with the tone on tone look and the SSS Damask Background cling stamp.  I die cut three panels, a white one, the stamped one and a dark pink one with the SSS Frames die, then inlaid pieces from each and taped them together on the back side.  I mounted this panel with Mounting tape.

The sentiment is a stamp from the SSS Sending Sympathy clear stamp set and die cut with the SSS Stitched Rectangles die set.  I had to recut it to get it the right size.

The NEW Etched flower die cuts two connected flowers…so I had this single flower left over and parts from the Frames die cuts so I made another card!

The sentiment is also from the Sending Sympathy stamp set.  I taped the pieces together on the back side of the panel and used foam mounting tape to mount it to the cardbase.

My third card…I had an idea but this isn’t anywhere near what I was trying to do! lol  I like it though! lol

I debated whether to stick with a thank you or make it a sympathy card… it could easy go for any occasion!

There’s the NEW Speckled Egg Distress ink is what I used on the white Etched Flower die cuts this time… peeled paint for the stems.

Memory Box 6×6 pattern paper pad for the three papers.

A thank you stamp and some cotton cord and I stuck it all to a white cardbase.

All three cards are A2 size.

Have fun checking out this new release and thank you for shopping through my links!  I appreciate your support so much!
