Memory Box Plush Bundled Snowman, Mitten and a TIP!

Pam Sparks Felt Snowman with heart

SMILE! This snowman with his sweet heart addition is helping me say Happy New Year to all!

I used the Memory Box Plush Snowman cut from Taylored Expressions wool felt...love her felt!  I cheated though on the orange… I used white and colored it orange with a Copic Sketch Marker!  : )  I didn’t have black thread either, so I colored it with a Copic Sketch Marker! I sewed him up with the backstitch.

I stuffed him with batting.  I pull it apart several times so it’s easy to work with.  One thing I would suggest when you’re making this guy is, cut two of the hat, then you can put the cord between the two for the hanger. I just glued the second hat on the back after I was done.

I know…I’m having a little trouble moving on but I will!  : )  I have some of the new dies from Memory Box and poppystamps to work with so I’ll be sharing REAL soon!

Linking this guy to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – Something New

Thursday this week is Release Day for Taylored Expressions and I have 4 cards to share with you then! YAY! I think you’ll like them. Colored and die cut!

BUT…in the meantime, here’s another Plush Mitten from felt.

Pam Sparks Pink Poinsettia Mitten

I saw this variation on the blanket stitch on the inside cover of a CD case! I had to search to find something similar and I do think this is it.  It’s a German Knotted Blanket Stitch.  I love it!

Don’t be mad at me but I just had to experiment with adding a die cut to the top of the mitten.  It’s a discontinued die.  Hoping some of you have it already. It was released in 2013 I believe and it’s a poppystamps die. I used it HERE.

It’s a border die but I used partial die cutting to fit it on the mitten.

Which reminds me, I have a TIP for you!  ok – so you have your BIG standard cutting plates on your Big Shot or die cutting machine.  Well, you know… Sizzix has smaller plates, 3×6, that work AWESOME for stuff like this.  I use them all the time for smaller dies and especially for die cutting the smaller stamped images!  The cutting pads are called Frameworks on the Edge.  I’ll link to them below in the inlinkz.  Just faster to run through the machine!  I love time saving!  AND if you have the cutting plates from the old Sidekick machine…those work great too!  I still use my Sidekick for small dies.  Happy, Happy!

French Knots in the Poinsettia center.  I love French Knots for some reason!  They’re just cool!

Well, that’s it for today!  I can’t believe it’s already the 4th and I missed posting my favorite Christmas cards and favorites for the year!  bummer.

I just changed the blog theme and I like it!  Hope it’s easier for you to see categories and search things.  Holler if you have questions.  I’m here!

Thanks for stopping by!  ttul!

Supplies and dies I used…

If you have a chance – stop by Starlitstudio.net and check out her clearance page… just WOW!

This snowman is not available anymore but here’s a link to see the dies you can buy to use with felt.  Some of them I’ve used, you can use the search box and type in the name of the die to see what I’ve made.

Memory Box Plush Holly Stocking die…

Pam Sparks Plush Stocking Red Turquoise

The BIG day approaches! lol  I have some new sweaters anyway! lol I just couldn’t resist photographing this felt stocking ornament with my pile!

Do you purchase your own Christmas presents?  Come on…tell me true! lol  I am really bad about either purchasing myself or doing a lot of coaching! lol

Red is my favorite color, so it’s no wonder I love Christmas so much!

This stocking die though… oh my… I LOVE it!

Look at the close up below….brilliant idea came to me!  French Knots on the berries!  Be still my heart… so cute! hehe

I wish the photo showed them better… grrrr… so much for a macro lens…guess I don’t know how to use it!  Photography is Rocket Science to me! I am not going to let it take me to bah humbug land though!  Imagine darling French Knots and insert eating dark mint chocolate!

ok – I used the Memory Box Plush Holly Stocking die…awesome… cuts the holes you sew in…’sew’ fabulous!!!  I didn’t use the holly that came in the set but you sure could!  I used the Memory Box Plush Holly Leaves and Berries die

The white twine in this Doodlebug Twine set… I love this twine… gonna have to ask Cindy if I can just get a spool of white!  She carries their chunky twine in white but it might be too heavy… I want some of it anyway. lol

The felt comes from Taylored ExpressionsIt is gorgeous felt…beautiful colors!  I used Red Hot, Grass Green and Robin’s Egg.

I like to back stitch when sewing this look.  I use a long enough tapestry needle so I can get in two holes at a time.  It’s so easy.  I love it… and if you forget to add the patches like I did and have to take some out, it comes out really easy too!  : )

Thanks for stopping by today and holler if you have any questions!

I appreciate so much, those of you that shop through my links!  I don’t now who you are but it helps me keep working/blogging!  THANK YOU!

I LOVE comments too!  Thank you blog friends for always encouraging!  So thankful for you!!!

Memory Box Plush Mitten dies…

Pam Sparks Plush Mitten Felt 2

A month ago or so, Cindy from SLS sent me this mitten cut from felt to stitch up!  I finally got around to it a couple weeks ago.  I have the Plush Frosty Mitten die now and more felt, so I wanted to make a ‘pair’!  Well, I have three pieces of three different reds and none of them are big enough to cut four mittens! So she began to cry! haha

But not for long… you’ll see my pair, a couple photos down but I cut and stitched it in cardstock just to show that it can be done!  : )  I’m on the scout for bigger pieces of felt now!

A close up of the snowflake… and yes it’s handmade… I just now saw, looking at this photo, the signature mistake that you’re supposed to see in anything handmade! Crying again. lol

ok – Here’s the pair that I cut and stitched in cardstock… it worked great, didn’t tear or anything.  I used Maraschino Bakers Twine from the Twinery to sew the blanket stitch on all the mittens and Peapod Bakers Twine from the Twinery to sew the holly leaves on the ‘pair’.  I used a needle from a pack that just said book binding needles.  Sorry I don’t have a size to tell you.

Pam Sparks Plush Mitten Pair 4

I had to google for a refresher course on adding on thread and going around corners… I really liked this site HERE.

The holly leaves on the mitten pair are from the Plush Holly Leaves and Berries die.

I made sure I started in the same place on each mitten so that I would have long tails to knot together so I can hang them as ornaments or easy use them to embellish a gift package.

Oh, to make a pair, you do have to use the back side of the mitten cut but because you are stitching around the edge, you can’t tell!

I used to hand sew all the time so this was fun!  I’m going to do up some more of the new Memory Box Plush dies!

Thanks for stopping by!  What are you making for Christmas?
