Magnolia, Tilda’s Town, Tilda!

_MG_8201-001

Use Your Stash! is the challenge this week at Tilda’s Town Challenges.  So out came a Tilda I haven’t used yet, colored with Distress Ink Markers with water on Langton Prestige Hot Press Watercolor paper and the only paper anywhere near the Milled Lavender color is this old Wild Asparagus pattern paper from My Minds Eye.   I know… in the photos the paper doesn’t looked lavender at all but IRL, it is a pretty soft lavender!!!   Imagine…. hehe

Tilda has a little garden happenin’ here… love this sentiment from Paper Smooches!   Dies are all Magnolia Doohickeys… check ’em out @ Tilda’s Town.com!

Magnolia, Tilda’s Town Challenge…

PamSparksCoolEdwin700

Time for Tilda’s Town’s weekly challenge…this week…’use a Magnolia background stamp’.   I used Tilda’s Summer Car with Cool Edwin from the Sweet Rainbow Collection and colored with Distress Ink Marker watercoloring. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the You Are Special collection.

PamSparksCoolEdwin2_700

I used the Deconstructed Sketch #101 and will link to it, but my image was too big to cut into a circle.  I love fishtails but I didn’t have enough room, so I used an old Quickutz arrow die to mimic them and thought that went with the car.  It was definitely my inspiration but I did have to change it up to work for my image!

I’m linking to Midweek Magnolias Challenge … Birthday is the theme.

I used the Faber Castell Pitt Artist pens and the Stampers Big White Pitt Artist pen.

I stamped Tilda on hot press watercolor paper with Ranger Archival Black ink, watercolored her by coloring the pens on my stamp a ma jig imaging sheet and picking up the color with a waterbrush.  I’m delighted with how easy it was and the look I achieved!

Skin – Light Flesh 132
Cheeks – added water to Pale Geranium Lake 121
Hair – Raw Umber 180
Clothes – added water to Magenta 133
I did go in and shade the skin and hair with the markers direct to the paper.  The brush tip is really thin and lends itself to details easily!

After I cut Tilda out,  I went around the cut edge with the black marker.  I LOVE it!  Good coverage and No bleeding!

_MG_7126-004

For the grass… this was fun!  I started with Light Green 171, making strokes for the blades of grass with the marker tip and then watercoloring a little under them with the scribbled ink and waterbrush.  Next I added Leaf Green 112 blades of grass and then Permanent Green Olive 167.  Awesome markers for blades of grass!

_MG_7126 - Version 2

I do have a ‘thing’ for little white flowers! : )   The Stampers Big White pen came in quite handy to add little dots to the patch of grass for flowers!   What a great pen!

I also made my own polka dot paper!   See the blue strip on the front… cute! Depending on how hard you push down,  is what size of dot you get!  The flower dots are teeny and the dots on the strip are big! Love it!

The Clouds are the Puffy Clouds die from Memory Box, edged with Tumbled Glass Distress ink and the ink blending tool.  Two EK Success Nesting punches for the sentiment… 1 3/8th in and 1 1/2 in.

You all know I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE  the Perfect Layers Tools! (enter code, ‘Sparks5%’ at checkout)
What a time saver!  Mat your creations in a fraction of the time it takes to get them even with a trimmer!  YEA!    I have the set of three… yes… it’s great to have them all!  You just never know when you’ll need them!  On my card today I have the 1/16th inch mat and 1/8 th inch mat.

HERE is a video tutorial I made using Perfect Layers Tools!  A few tips on it…  I cut standing up…works the best for me with the full size x-acto knife blade, #11 size.   I love the Fiskars fingertip knife… link below.

Here’s the inside of my card…I wanted to show you that the Perfect Layers Tools work for a random look too!  I had the piece of blue left but not the right size… oh well… use it, I told myself!  so I did! lol  Worked great to use the larger measurements on the rulers.  This is a 5  1/2 inch square card.

So glad you stopped by!  I love sharing the coloring mediums and tools I love to work with!  I hope you’ll try these tools too!  You won’t be disappointed!

it’s a 3 card kind of day!

_MG_6801

I was inspired to use some alphabet dies when I saw a card on Papertrey ink’s blog!   I used some Crate paper from a 6×6 pad,  a couple old Hero Arts sentiments, an EK Success border punch and an even older diamond punch to make the banner for a ‘scrappy looking kind of card’!

_MG_6804

It’s a birthday card challenge for you!  Use some ‘old and older’ stuff! lol  Oh, and my tiny attacher was working that day, so I have a staple! yea! lol  The background numbers stamp is one of those wheel stamps.  I unmount them and use them as a flat stamp… multiple stamping to get the all over background, using the stamp a ma jig for placement.

Pink is harder than red to capture in a photograph!  eek!  oh well,  Here’s a cute card for the scooter rider of the family!  Lots of fun stamps from Printworks Collection here… the fishtail banner pulls out and says….

_MG_6745

Howie’s Ride J4300, Toy Racer C4295,  Rough Rider B4290, Who Says? F4304, E4298 1..2..3..,  Eat Cake A4299,   On Your Mark D4123

Printworks has ‘thee’ best Birthday sentiments!!!  This is a non-opening card, for lack of a better way to put it at the moment!  : ) I didn’t tape the right side down so the fishtail banner could pull in and out. The stitching across the top is a Fiskars border punch.  I used banner dies for the words and a circle punch.

More fun stamps from Printworks Collection for Spring! I love this primitive wheelbarrow and it is fun to color and goes so well with all of Annette’s images and sentiments!  I attempted watercoloring again on the scooter card and this one, with Caran d’Ache watercolor crayons on cold press watercolor paper.  Perfect Layers Tools for matting the image… link in the sidebar.
