Stamp club swap today

I love the look of real kids for creating artist trading cards.  This one really went all out in decorating her hat with flowers and lace….and the glasses???  so cute!   A really simple ATC to bring a smile and hopefully bring back fond memories of your growing up years.

I computer generated the sentiment after a friend translated it for me from french….THANKS Alice!

Then punched with McGill’s keyhole plates punch and stamped a tone on tone rose background stamp by Alesa Baker (Impression Obsession stamp company) on the punched piece….

The pearls are from Hero Arts…

The grandchildren and I have so much fun creating with the Cricut Paper Doll cartridge, that I had to make one for Lane for his birthday card.  I added lots of little details…chalked and inked everything, crumpled the card-stock for the band on his hat…stamped teeny paisley on the scarf…

headI wanted his chaps to look like leather so I used a Magenta crackle stamp on them….pantsThen to make the rope look a little like twine/rope,  I took my xacto knife and scratched it up….ropin7a very fun cowboy to make….I’ve always loved paper piecing!!!  Hope he makes you smile too!

Wednesday Stamper

Wednesday Stamper – 2×4

Reading can take you there....

Reading can take you there....

Wednesday Stamper  challenge this week is to make something 2×4 inches.

It is a fun size, not too big, not too small.  Remember to use at least one rubber stamp.  Click the link above to go to the site and see the challenge and all the other entries. I used SIX stamps on this little 2×4….very fun to do something different!  Then I get it done and think,  why in the world did I use such a bold red?!  Every once in awhile I do that!  A soft color might have been really nice…oh well!

Wednesday Stamper – how do you do a transfer?

Golden Matte Gel Medium Transfer

Wednesday Stamper this week is asking, how do you like to do transfers? I have tried a few ways with Golden brand, matte gel medium and pretty happy w/the results each time. Since I had company this past weekend, I am posting an ATC I have made. This is a version of the transfer technique in the book, Artist Trading Card Workshop.

I use an Epson inkjet printer w/DuraBrite ink and Epson Bright white inkjet 24# computer paper.   I only had good luck w/transferring from this weight of paper…
I tried my Epson heavyweight premium matte paper that is a 44# weight and the image would NOT transfer.
I use Golden Matte Gel Medium…for this ATC I painted the gel onto a piece of watercolor paper,  it’s not a real heavy piece, not sure if they weight matters for the watercolor paper.
Then placed the printed image on top of the gelled watercolor paper, image down and brayered over it for some seconds…kinda lifted to see if it was working…. half of the transfers worked and the other half I threw away!
Then you pull the printed image paper off the top very carefully,  slowly….and throw that away….

The image that transferred is going to have a lot of paper fibers on top of it…so VERY CAREFULLY, SOFTLY,  GENTLY  rub the fibers off w/your fingers….if it dries on you…you can try spritzing from very far back…barely misting to moisten it again…if you spritz too much,  you’ll remove too much and have a mess.  Be prepared to try and try again and more than likely you will fill up your trash can BUT,  you will get some really nice transfers too! Every one will be different! Thanks for coming by my blog and looking!
