Make your own Light Tent…

What you’ll need to make this at home right on your living room floor!

  • 1/2 inch PVC pipe approx. $4 (cut with a pipe cutter for NO mess)
  • 4 T’s for 1/2 inch PVC pipe 50¢ to 60¢ each
  • 4 elbows for 1/2 inch PVC pipe 50¢ to 60¢ each
  • 4 caps for 1/2 inch PVC pipe  45¢ each
  • 4 one inch pieces of pipe to connect the elbows to the T’s
  • piece of shower curtain or some type of fabric to act as a diffuser, cut to fit over the pipe set up
  • 2 clamp on light fixtures (mine are Bayco Super Tite Grip from Walmart in the hardware dept) approx. $8 each
  • 2 light bulbs (mine are GE 6500K Daylight 26w from Walmart) approx. $5

For the large size tent cut the following

  • 4, 15 in pieces of the 1/2 in. PVC pipe for the legs
  • 4, 12 in pieces of the 1/2 in. PVC pipe for the top
  • 4 short pieces (an inch or so) for connecting the elbows to the T’s

I LOVE that it folds up for sticking out of sight!  yea!

Move your lights around until you’re happy with your photo.  I still load my pictures into iPhoto and adjust the white balance, sharpen, etc.  I take the photos of my cards with a Canon DSLR camera.

Be Good Laugh…

Meet Laugh…one of the new Laugh Lines gals from CC Designs. When this new rolled rose die and new Authentique Christmas 6×6 paper pad arrived this week, I decided I needed to make a Christmas card with this cutie!  Then I thought it could be birthday even!  Our oldest daughter’s birthday is Christmas Day,  so I might be adding the check off box…naughty or nice! lol  Oops,  goofed…should’ve made her with red hair!

Laugh is stamped on PaperTrey Ink Select White Card-stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Sketch Markers.  Hair – E50, 23, 25, 27, 29… Skin – E000, 00, 01, R20, 21, (teeny bit of 22)… Dress/leggings – E81, 87 (had to do some tip to tip coloring)… Shoes – E43 ,44, 47, 49… Eyes – B21, 23.

I stamped the holly around the perimeter of the stamped image with Forest Moss Distress ink  (stamped off on scrap paper first each time because the first impression was too dark).  The holly corners and fill in stamps are oldies but goodies from Stampa Rosa.  I’m sure they are out there somewhere because I have similar ones from other companies. I aged the edges with Antique Linen Distress ink and the ink blending tool.

The rose is made with the new CC Cutters rolling rose die…so pretty!  I cut it with Stampin Up Real Red card-stock,  did a little shaping, rolled it up, glued it and spritzed it with Pearl Glimmer Mist.  A few leaf fronds and holly from Martha Stewart punches and I love it!

Hot, Hot Days of Summer

SSSSShiver Me Timbers! is right!  It’s been so hot in Iowa this Summer!   I think the heat effects my creativity!  eek! This card took a few twists and turns before it turned into this diorama style card!

I used my Coluzzle templates to cut the ovals… Kraftin’ Kimmie Pirate Phrases stamp set…Tim Holtz screw brads around the oval frame…Martha Stewart Shells border punch…Hero Arts woodgrain background stamp.

The card/diorama is 5/8 inch deep,  so you can move it to make it flat (folds down to 6×6) to fit in an envelope!  Love this style of card… I made one for Christmas when I was the guest designer for All That Scraps back in Nov. ’09, HERE.  Years ago I made a snowman scene that I still keep out on top of a bookcase! lol

Here’s the back… this is going to our Grandson Henry for his 5th birthday.  Today is our Granddaughter Gena’s 4th birthday and my dear friend Alice’s birthday too!  Happy Birthday to YOU!
