Sunflower Rosie…

It’s a beautiful morning!!!  The sun has been shining this week in Iowa and we’ve had some lower temps (still in the 80’s) but how’d it get to be July already!  EEK! lol

This is my first post for the Sweet Stop Sketches Challenge Blog.  I found this blog through a friend’s blog awhile back and tried one of Korin’s sketches.  I’m looking forward to the next three months creating with her sketches and posting on Saturdays!  Here’s Korin’s sketch we used today. We’d love to have you play along! Details on the Sweet Stop Sketches Challenge Blog HERE.  Join us!

I used Sunflower Rosie (check her out, she comes w/sentiments!) from LaLa Land Crafts…so very fun to color and add details to!  She is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Sketch Markers.  All the E50’s for her hair,  starting with the lightest to color all the hair and then bringing in the other colors and then retracing back with the colors a time or two…I kinda lose track…until I like how it looks.  Rosie’s dress is the B90’s and Wgrays.  I used several yellows,  the green is YG00 and YG95,  the fence is the E40’s.  The background fence is from Magnolia of Sweden.

Enlarged photo…Rosie isn’t this big IRL…she is the size in the first photo…do you like enlarged photos?

I’m linking to LaLa Land Crafts Challenge blog…the challenge this week is to use “something new”. Easy to play along with this one! lol   Rosie is new and this McGill sunflower punch I’ve had a long time but  never used…so I’m saying a new technique??? lol  The punch works differently from most punches.  Normally you would punch a positive piece and use that but this punch gives you a stencil “look”.   I punched it randomly over the 5.25 in. piece of kraft card-stock.  Then punched 5/8 in. circles with an EK Success nesting circle punch from dark brown card-stock and glued them to the back side of each sunflower so the centers would be completely brown.  Mounted this kraft, punched piece on yellow Bazzill card-stock so the sunflower petals would be yellow.  I edged all the card-stock pieces with Van Dyke Brown ink (Nick Bantock from Ranger) and my ink blending tool.  Paper cord from JoAnn’s,  Scallop border piece is an EK Success border punch.  Buttons are from Lasting Impressions and I used the staples from the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher stapler for the centers. (some hand manipulation required) It’s a pain but I like the “look”! lol

Happy Independence Day! I always enjoy fireworks and am so thankful for freedom!

Penelope and Shelly…

Penelope and Shelly make me grin and almost giggle!  Such an adorable expression and love her hair! Amy Young is the artist for CC Designs.  I made this “Box in a Bag” project for All That Scraps Weekly Wednesday Challenge blog. I used CC Designs Amy R Beach Sentiments for the words on the handle and the words on the tag. Penelope and Shelly are stamped with Memento Black ink and colored with Copic Sketch Markers (her hair is E50 – 57, her eyes are B21 & 23).  My bag and tag are both Accucut dies.  The wild grass and mini sun are punches from the Punch Bunch.  The white flower is from a Martha Stewart Hydrangea punch.  Yellow and Blue Prism card-stock… McGill 1/16th and 1/8th in. hole punches.

Talk about fun to color!  I think I’ll fill this bag with water balloons!  My grandkids love them!

Hope you can play along with us in the challenge this week…always a great prize!  All That Scraps Weekly Wednesday Challenge blog is HERE. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Father’s Day…

I just got this truck stamp from Printworks…it made up great for Father’s Day but I think it’ll be fun for many other occasions for men too…especially birthdays.  Can you see it at Christmas with a tree out the back?!!!  I have to work on that idea!!!  I love Christmas!

The inside…

The stamps I used for this scene are all from Printworks Collection. The first three are new and you can see the pdf files of the new stamps  HERE. The truck is JB4020 Country Pickup,  Happy Father’s Day is C4031, My Dad is E4032 (on the inside), Daisy Sprig is C2012, Leaf Pattern is G2475 and my dots for the sand stamp (found it) is so old it was before they used the item code on the wood!  I will try to find it on the online store.  Click HERE to shop for the stamps. Some you will need to type into the comment section when you order and then Nicole will email you the $$ total.  I believe the Leaf Pattern stamp is also in a clear set (found it).  I love how interactive Printworks stamps are and of course Annette’s signature look and hearts!  Look at these fun stamps while you’re at it!  HERE,  HERE and HERE… Aren’t they great?!!!

A close-up…

I stamped the truck first with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then masked and stamped, with the stampamajig, the fishing poles in the back.  The leaf pattern stamp is stamped multiple times with Printworks Citrus, Ivy and Oak Brown stamp pads.   Everything is colored in with Copic Sketch Markers. I used Strathmore Smooth Bristol to stamp this scene on,  matted with Prism dark brown card-stock and the pattern paper is by Basic Grey. I cut all my papers with the Tonic Guillotine trimmer…my fave cutter ever!!!  On the inside I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink on Basic Grey paper and cut it out  and embossed  with a rectangle nestabilities die.

♥ So thankful for Father’s!  Celebrate making memories and remembering good times. ♥  Thanks for stopping by!
