A Spring “thing”…

Spring is in the air, flowers everywhere (well, that’s stretching it for Iowa) and a color curve… pastels and a touch of brown.

I used Will you be my Valentine Tilda from the You Are So Special Collection. I don’t think she’s just for Valentines Day, so I’m using her for Spring!  I also used the NEW Vintage Flowers/Leaves dies and the NEW Antique Lace die. I also used the Doohickey’s Swirl die, poinsettia die (leaves under the flowers) and fence die. I added lines on the flowers, the leaves under the flowers and the branch type leaves with copic markers…the same colors for the reds and greens below… I used two colors of Twinery Twine …the Birds and Swirls Cuttlebug embossing folder and the Gertie 6×6 paper pad in the store.

At stamp club last Friday,  Annette challenged us with her program to use embossing folders more often…so guess what…I did it! lol  Thanks Annette!  I embossed and sanded… love this look.

A couple more pictures…

I only used one punch on this card!  Martha Stewart’s grass border punch.  Tilda is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink  and colored with a combination of Tria, Promarkers and Copic markers…that’s why her face looks different! lol  On her skin I used ivory, blush and sunkissed pink.  Her hair is E50, 31, 33, 35, 37.  Shoes W1, 3, 5.  Flowers and hearts in the bouquet are R21,22,24. Her dress Buttercup, tulip yellow, YR30, 31. Green on the bouquet YG91, 93.

I cut my circles with my coluzzle templates.. I know, oldies but I still use them… I love nestabilities and they would work too.

I brought out my Distress Ink  palettes again last night… all inspired after watching Dena’s how to videos, HERE.  Fun, THANK YOU Dena!  I enjoyed it!  I’m linking my card up to the Just Magnolia challenge… this week is “anything goes” and I used the sketch from The Sweet Stop Sketches challenge blog.

I also used the Magnolia Doohickey’s dies, Tilda’s Lace and the mini scallop lace.

The pattern papers are from the new 6×6 MME pad Stella Rose, Hazel.    Elongated Rectangle Nestabilites for the shapes… love them!

March Preview Day 2…

Meet Birthday Gretel!  Isn’t she a doll!  I love her!  The All That Scraps DT gals previewed her yesterday and today we’re showing the two new Birthday sentiments sets by Amy R. The sentiment I used is from the Best Wishes set… a very cool set!

Another new stamp in this release is a BIG Cupcake.  I decided it’d be awesome to make it pop-up when you open the card!  I love it! lol

What it looks like from the side…good thing I don’t have any cupcakes or I’d be wanting one for breakfast today!

I used the new Magnolia Doohickey Rose leaves die, , EK Success retro flower punches in medium and small, a Spellbinders Fancy tag die, 1/8 th in. grosgrain ribbon from Creative Impressions,  Nestabilities Ovals dies, and Hero Arts gemstones.

Gretel and the Big Cupcake were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, on PaperTrey Inc. card-stock and colored with Copic Sketch Markers, … pink – R81, 83, 85 … blue – B0000, 000, 00, 01 … green – YG0000, 00, 01, 03 …brown (hair/cupcake) – E40’s … skin – E0000, 000, 00, R20 (diluted with R00).  I used PaperTrey Inc. Select White Card-stock for the whole card.  All the scoring was done with the Martha Stewart Score Board.

The pattern for the Front Panel Stair Step Card is from one of my posts last year,  HERE.  The inspiration for my card being all white is from Marlene’s fabulous blog, HERE.

Over on the Papertake Weekly Challenge, HERE, the theme is Anything Goes with an option of “old” so I’m linking up…my old is the EK Success Retro flower punches.

Here’s Gretel again to say good-bye for now!

CC Designs Spring Kiki LaRue w/Doohickey’s Dies…

A simple, sweet Spring Kiki LaRue Easel card.

I used Spring Kiki LaRue, Amy R’s Get Well sentiments, CC Designs Tags it stamps and dies set and Magnolia Doohickey’s dies.  I love the doily, the berry lace and the mistletoe dies,  but do you see what I added to the mistletoe? Posies!!!   I made the posies with the tag reinforcement circles from the new Tags It stamps and dies set from CC Designs this month!  It just tickled my fancy! lol

The pattern paper is from a DCWV 4.5 x 6.5 paper stack I picked up at JoAnn’s.  An odd size to work with but I finally made myself do it! lol  Then it was hard to cover up the pattern! ugh!  Lots of sparkle….

Kiki is stamped on Beckett Expression Candlelight Super smooth 80# cover card-stock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Sketch Markers.

  • hair – E40’s
  • dress – G40, 82, 85 and then W0, 1, 3 over the top to try to match the green in the paper
  • shoes – warm grays
  • pinks are R000, 00, 01, 02, 05, 08
  • skin – E0000, 000, 00 and diluted R20, 21, 22 on her cheeks

Magnolia, Tilda with Heart Lace and Twisted Easel tutorial…

I had to try my hand at another twisted easel card.

Here’s a close up of this cutie Tilda… she makes me smile!

Tilda with Heart Lace is from the NEW, You Are So Special Collection.  I also used the Happy Birthday stamp, the Mini Zig Zag and Scalloped Lace die,  the Romantic Lace die and the Romantic Lace Tag all from that same NEW collection. I also used the Doohickey’s Swirl die.

How I made this Twisted Easel Card…

  • first I made the 6×6 card front, colored the image, layered it up, etc

  • then the card base as follows in the photos below…

  • now you will score your “in half” fold and your diagonal with your bone folder so you have nice, sharp folds and it will look like the next photo
  • decorate the base so it holds your easel in place when it’s open.  Oh and I should say the card folds flat for mailing!  cool!

The Martha Stewart Score board is awesome!  I love the 1/8 in. marks all the way across and I love making my own 6×6 envelopes.   The pattern paper is from a Basic Grey 6×6 paper pad… the orange card-stock is from Stampin Up… it really is orange/pumpkin, not red.  I used Copic Sketch Markers to color Tilda… skin is E000, 00, 01, 21,  hair is E50, 51, 53, 55, 57,  dress is BV0000, 000, 00, 01, 02, 04,  shadowed a little with C00 and C1.  oh her shoes are E43, 44, 47 and the grass is a crazy mess of greens!!! lol

Have FUN with this “twist” on the Easel card!!!  ttul!
